50 - The Babby Neary Well.

  "Waaah..."

Just as Liam and Ethan were getting hyped up, smiles plastered on their faces, a whimpering sound drifted over from the distance.

Liam perked up. "Ethan, did you hear that?"

"Duh, I'm not deaf." Ethan raised an eyebrow

Liam nodded emphatically, feeling a fire ignite in his gut. He flicked his hair, striking a pose.

"If she cries that beautifully, she's gotta be a cute girl."

Ethan urged, "Stop wasting time! She's clearly upset; someone needs to comfort her!"

"Exactly, exactly!" Liam chimed in. "Whether she's cute isn't even the point. It's that we were raised to help people!"

Like a couple of curious giraffes, they craned their necks, tracking the sound through the town.

Unbeknownst to them, countless eyes were watching them from the shadows.

The owners of these eyes were a motley crew. Some had three blood-red eyes, some had mouths that took up half their faces, others were Frankensteinian horrors cobbled together from different human parts, their faces contorting with conflicting expressions, as if multiple souls were battling for control.

Their only commonality was the predatory hunger in their eyes as they watched Liam and Ethan, practically salivating at the thought of devouring them whole.

But, as they say, every nation has its laws, and every house has its rules.

Even demons have a code of conduct.

The reason so many demons could coexist in the town without killing each other was precisely because of these rules.

If you want to get business, you have to lure customers over yourself. No forced sales allowed.

If a demon broke the rules in town, they'd be torn apart by their own kind long before anyone from the church stepped in.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Under the watchful gaze of countless eyes in the darkness, Liam and Ethan quickly arrived at an old well.

A petite figure was crouched beside it, long hair cascading over her face, delicate white hands covering her face. The whimpering sounds were coming from her.

Liam and Ethan's eyes went wide, a powerful and almost primal urge to protect her surging within them.

The woman's sobs echoed like the siren song on the sea, enchanting the battle-hardened captains and their bravest sailors.

Like men in a trance, they shuffled forward.

Liam swallowed hard. "The owner really pulled out all the stops this time. They got a total knockout for the role!"

"Liam..." Ethan mumbled, clutching his heart, a flush on his face. "I... I think I'm in love."

Liam glared. "You call that love? Don't even."

"I should be the one in love!"

Ethan scoffed, "You don't actually like her. You just want to get in her pants, you pig!"

"So what if I do?" Liam retorted, totally unfazed, as he sped toward the well. He'd snag her first, get in early!

Ethan wouldn't let him win so easily and quickly moved closer to the well.

Beneath the veil of hair, the woman by the well smirked.

"Hey there, you need some help...?" Liam began tentatively.

The well woman stifled a laugh, answering softly, "I... I."

"Hey what's wrong? Liam looked at the well and asked, "Did something drop into it?"

The well woman nodded rapidly, taking a breath. "Yeah, Yeah! Right!"

Liam and Ethan crowded around the well, peering into its depths.

The well is roughly ten meters deep, and with the poor lighting, you couldn't see anything.

"Do you know what it is?" Liam asked. "What exactly are you missing so we have some idea of what we're looking for?"

"Something above the neck. Stuff above my neck" the well woman voice becomes much colder.

Unfortunately, Liam and Ethan were too absorbed in the moment. A case of “When the love is right, people ignore red flags”.

"Above the neck?" Liam thought for a moment. "Ah! Got it! It must be a hair clip!"

Ethan agreed. "Yeah! That's what I'm thinking!"

"Nope. One more shot." the well woman giggle.

"Not that?" Liam frowned, racking his brain. "A necklace, perhaps?"

Ethan jumped on board. "Yeah! That's what I'm thinking!"

"Still no! You're at the very last round to guess, Honey, the well woman's voice grew faint, hard to tell where it was coming from.

"No? Maybe it's a dangling ear ring? Babby those are the only jewelry people wear around your head. Could it be?"

Ethan gave another, “yeah! That's what I'm thinking”

"Nope" The well woman spoke in Echo

Before Liam said anything more, "Wait a minute, Liam's voice. How did her voice Echo all of the sudden?"

"I think that I hear.." Ethan froze as his thought registered, "Yeah it does, what in the world?"

But also, she sounds like the voice of before as changed position.

not that time, they came behind me.

Liam and Ethan looked down, they were too deep at well to realize they have made a mistake.

For only a mere moment, they became shock as their eyes grew smaller after seeing a terrifying vision
