48 - The victims ready

Jake pulled out his phone and quickly dialed Ian's number.

"Hey, what brings the boss to call me today?" Ian's voice echoed in the meeting room.

Jake chuckled. "Well, I was wondering if you could come to our amusement park..."

Ian panicked, quickly responding, "The number you have dialed is currently unavailable."

Liam and the others couldn't help but be impressed. He reacts instantly to any potential trouble.

"No, you misunderstand," Jake laughed. "I'm not asking you to come and play in the Death House."

Ian breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, just get to the point."

"We're doing a spooky-themed cosplay event, and we're a bit short-handed. I was hoping you could come and play an actor, and also have some fun," Jake said.

"Sure, that's no problem. It's just cosplay," Ian agreed.

Jake smiled. "Then come over as soon as possible. It would be even better if you could bring some more people."

  "Got it!"

  After confirming Ian's participation,

Jake also started working on the list of victims, listing the names as follows: Cindy, Ethan, Liam and Ian.

To avoid impacting the normal operation, Jake scheduled the test for after six in the afternoon.

That's around closing time, there are not many tourist, and with sunset going down it's the best time to deal with the demons.

  ......

  Time flew by.

In Jake's great anticipation and Liam and the others' anxiety, it was soon six in the afternoon.

  Jake gathered everyone together again.

  Ian was naturally among them.

Ian was dressed as a doctor, his face covered in some makeup, making him look deathly pale.

"Wait, I thought we were doing cosplay. Why haven't you guys changed yet?" Ian looked at everyone with curiosity.

They looked at each other, and then simulataneously put on kind smiles.

"We have to work after this, we can't go to work wearing costumes!"

"Yeah, our costumes are inside, we'll change once we get in!"

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Your costume sucks, we can show you our stuff we have inside when we get in!"

  "Oh, I see." Ian nodded.

"Alright, stop chatting and wasting time, let's go!" Jake came over with a handful of pendants, handing one to each person.

"Remember, you must wear these pendants at all times, or I won't be responsible for anything that happens," Jake warned.

Ian took the pendant with a puzzled expression. "What could happen playing cosplay?"

Compared to him, everyone else had already silently hung the pendants around their necks.

Even Cindy, who had just arrived, had done the same.

"Stop asking so many questions. Why are you so nosy?" Liam exclaimed.

Liam had resigned himself to his fate.

As the saying goes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

For Liam, if he couldn't escape being screwed over, he would just drag as many people down with him as possible!

With everything ready, Jake opened the door to the Death House, and everyone entered one after another.

Just as the last person entered the Death House, Jake slammed the door shut.

Ethan turned around and pulled on the door. As expected, it had been locked by Jake.

"Where should we go now?" Ian asked.

Cindy pointed to the right. "The boss told us to keep going right after we entered, and to go straight until we reach the end."

  Everyone looked over.

They saw a winding path leading into a spooky looking wilderness with thick trees lining each side.

  "Let's go," Ethan said.

The boss had blocked their retreat, leaving them with only two paths.

One led to the Death House.

The other led to Town of Demons.

They had all been in the Death House, and they didn't want to go in there again.

Although none of them had been to Town of Demons.

But from the boss's description, it was a normal haunted house, where actors dressed as ghosts would scare the visitors, and it wouldn't be as mysterious as the Death House.

Although they only half believed what the boss said.

But they thought Town of Demons couldn't be as scary as the Death House!

Cindy, walking in the front, turned around and saw everyone was silent, the atmosphere was stifling. She laughed and said, "Don't make the atmosphere so depressing. It's just actors dressed as ghosts, how scary can it be?"

Ian smiled. "Actually, actors dressed as ghosts are the most basic form of scaring people, not that scary. Look at my costume, would you think I'm scary if you knew I was pretending?"

Ethan scratched his head and said with a smile, "That seems to be the case!"

Liam also smacked his forehead and suddenly realized, "We're thinking habitually, thinking that everything the boss comes up with is scary and exciting! So we think Town of Demons must be scary too!"

"But we just have to remind ourselves that the ghosts inside are played by people, and no matter how realistic and scary they look, it's no big deal!"

With this in mind, the atmosphere in the team suddenly became much more cheerful, and their pace quickened a lot.

Ethan yelled, "Brothers, let's go! We've been getting schooled by the boss all the time, we must seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give the boss a lesson in return!"

In this atmosphere, they soon reached the end of the path.

Coming out of the path, their vision suddenly widened.

A dilapidated town appeared in front of them.

From afar, the whole town looked lifeless, with old thatched houses scattered in a mess.

The roads in the town were also uneven, and garbage was everywhere.

Most strangely, the town was empty. The only sound to be heard were gusts of winds, and there weren't any other noises.

Ian smiled. "Very common haunted house setup!"

"That's right!" Liam nodded. "Although I haven't been to many haunted houses, horror movies love to do this, they like to use this silent feeling to create the atmosphere and trigger the audience's panic!"

Cindy was a little excited and walked at the front of the team, said "Don't think about it so much, let's go in!"

The group didn't stay outside the town for long and walked straight in.

And as they set foot on the territory of the Demon's Town, waves of demonic aura began to awaken.
