Chapter 51 : His Surprise

"I don't know what caused my body to suddenly be in pain the st time I was here, so... I don't think it's a good idea for me to wander around in this pce." Bryan muttered while kneeling on a single knee and trying his best to look for anything that's worth it for him to make a move from this location, of course he also noticed how he's able to see finer details on the tree in the distance thanks to his improved vision.

Still, Bryan patiently waited for a while until his eyes adjusted in the darkness to the only light source which is the dim light coming from the sky where the endless stars are flickering in a fantastic show which caused Bryan to doubt if they're actually stars not some thick yer of glitter scattered on the surface of some piece of dark fabric!

Once he shook his head to remove these weirdly unfounded thoughts, Bryan looked towards the tree and was surprised after discovering that this tree which he used to think of it being situated at one-hundred meters or so away from the portal is actually further away... and it seems like it's at least 1km away.

Not to mention that it's clearly quite massive judging by how high he still needs to raise his line of sight to look at its crown.

Finally Bryan decided to head towards the tree once again since he's worried something extremely dangerous might happen to his body once again and cripple it if he dared to meditate under the starry-night of this grassnd, at least he can turn around and go back once he realizes something is wrong with his body instead of just sitting cross-legged on the ground being full of regret on how helpless it feels.

Thanks to his improved vision Bryan could clearly see almost everything within fifteen meters once his eyes adjusted to the darkness and only when he looked further beyond that point would his vision start to degrade and the details his eyes are picking would fade bit by bit according to the increase in the distance.

Slowly and carefully just like before, Bryan stepped on the grass but once he realized that the slippers he's wearing are actually much louder compared to when he step directly on the grass barefooted which is why he immediately took them off and tossed them back towards the portal.

"Huh!" Bryan instantly noticed that there was not a single sound vibration once the pair of slippers nded inside the daylight circle, "Does that mean that both these areas are isoted from one another? At least when it comes to sound." Bryan muttered before turning towards the tree and continued his silent advance like a stealthy and patient leopard.

The reason his pace was much quicker compared to his previous visit to this grassnd is because Bryan was equipped with a much improved vision but that doesn't mean he wasn't careful and was being reckless, Bryan kept moving his arms and legs to confirm that nothing is wrong with them from time to time.

Of course the first sign he was looking for was the quality of each breath he took in or let go of.

Bryan was ready to turn around and make a run towards the portal once his chest begins to feel uncomfortable, he also kept taking looks behind him to confirm that he's still able to see the bright circle because the first thing he can't have happening in this situation is him being unable to find his way back to the portal when something is wrong with his body.

Indeed Bryan felt like things were going a bit too smoothly for him until he reached the area of about one-hundred meters distance from the portal, the next step he took away from that point... Bryan looked back and the zone of daylight plus the portal in its center were gone!

The second thing he noticed was the return of the frightening feeling of having his chest being stuffy and breathing was such an uncomfortable thing to do, it was much milder compared to when it happened the first time but Bryan instantly noticed that whatever was happening to his body was accumuting and the negative effects were stacking with every second he spends at this distance away from the portal.

Right when he was about to turn and walk back towards the portal, Bryan's eyes fell on the tree at the distance and saw something which caused his heart to feel like it's going to leap out of his chest.

Near to highest branches on its crown the starlight reflected on something which sparkled purple, red, and green colors before disappearing.

The daze which affected him deyed his actions by a few seconds which allowed the negative effects to stack way more than he'd ever allow, Bryan awoke from his daydreams by the startlingly squeezing-pain which overcame his respiratory system and the unbelievable weight that fell on his body as if gravity somehow doubled all of a sudden then somebody kept increasing the rate in tandem with the time Bryan spends away from the portal.

Bryan turned and walked back towards the portal which he was able to see once his body entered the imaginary borders which restricted his ability to see the portal whenever he's beyond a certain distance, of course he tried to move faster but the rate these negative effects stacked really did diminish his physical capabilities by more than half before he even started making his way back!

Midway through his journey, Bryan was shocked to discover something which looks life fine-sand on his skin.

The glow was being transferred from the glittering particles of this yer of fine-sand which somehow found its way and covered his body then transmitted their light to his skin which began to glow and reflect the colors transmitted by the endless amount of stars in the sky above.

As much as he'd love to stay and study or admire this majestic phenomena which is happening to his body at the moment, Bryan was in such extreme pain that his only wish was to make it back before he suffocate to death or be forced to crawl his way like it happened before.

Thankfully his much stronger body was able to make the trip of eighty-something meters back to the daylight zone without having to crawl but Bryan really felt like his throat was unable to intake any air at all in the final few minutes as if he was underwater, only when he entered the daylight zone and felt the scalding heat of the sun on his face could he breath normally once again.

  *Sizzle* *Sizzle*

Of course the most noticeable effect the sun had on Bryan's body wasn't the heat but the sound its rays made once they fell on the dim glowing halo of starlight which Bryan had on his skin, the rays of sunlight evaporated it gradually and the unease Bryan felt all over his muscles, bones, and in every single organ inside his body was getting smoothly relieved and eased until they were gone by the time halo of starlight on his skin was evaporated almost by half judging by the amount of glow it still has.

Bryan immediately had an idea once he realized that this faded cloud of vaporized gas resulting from the csh between the rays of sunlight and the dim halo of starlight actually caused the temperature around his body to drop by a lot.

He sat down cross-legged and closed his eyes to meditate then before he knew it Bryan's thoughts were cleared and his breathing calmed then the rate of intake and release kept going lower and lower until he reached a state of calm and focus he'd never even dream of achieving.

Every ten minutes he'd breath in once and release his breath once!

The amount of information Linnet left him were organized and separated between important now and important ter after the outbreak actually happens.

However, Bryan didn't even notice that a tiny cloud formed in the sky once all vaporized gas from the starlight halo he accumuted outside the sunlight zone earlier.

Then a few drops of rain formed inside of that tiny cloud before falling on the grassnd below, the shimmering green color of that lucky patch of grass was clearly different compared to the rest of grass inside this sunlight zone which made it easy for Bryan to notice it once the heat of the sun scattered his focus to bits and dragged him away from that fantastic state!

"Hmmm... How come this part of the grassnd looks so healthy and the strands of grass are still moistened by what would appear to be dew when the heat of this ever-noon sun is so fierce?" Bryan squatted next to the grass and felt its shoots with the tips of his fingers and was surprised to find them still wet.
