Chapter Eighteen: Passerby A

His cigarette smoke had gone who-knows-where, so he was shining his phone light, the weak beam only illuminating his blurry outline, but my heart immediately relaxed and I rushed over to grab his hand, saying "Comrade, you've finally arrived." What can I say, after a long and difficult journey, just when all hope seemed lost, suddenly a new village appears. If I had been left alone for one more minute, I would have been scared to death by my own imagination. For the time being, I didn't even find passerby A annoying.

Passerby A looked down at my hand and said lightly, "Let go of your paw." I came to my senses and felt embarrassed too. My previous behavior was just like a little dog meeting its owner. It was really embarrassing. I withdrew my hand and found that there was something hot under my hand. Unconsciously, I took a look and suddenly discovered that Passerby A's wrist had a patch of red on it.

  "Are you hurt?"

He nodded and said: "My lighter is out of fuel, I can only use my mobile phone, but the battery is almost dead."

I took a deep breath and couldn't help but ask, "Why are you walking back? Is there no road ahead?" He paused for a moment, looked down at me with a cold expression, and said, "I heard your voice, I reckon you have a light source in your hand." I nodded, directly handing the lighter to him, saying, "This is the last one, we need to find a way out quickly." Passerby A was stunned, shook the lighter in his hand, and said, "You're giving this to me just like that? Aren't you afraid I'll ditch you?"

As soon as he asked, I came to my senses and hated myself for not slapping myself in the face. This kid had just thrown me off and run away earlier, now if he throws me off again, I'll be damned if I don't even have a light source, I'd rather die of suffocation. Regretting it immediately, I hastily reached out to grab him and shouted: "Give it back to me."

The pedestrian, agile and nimble, took a step back, calm and composed, saying: "Then let's see if you have the skills." After finishing speaking, he directly ran forward. I was so angry that I wanted to slap myself twice, and hurriedly chased after him. The little scoundrel moved quickly, in no time, all I could see was a flickering green light getting farther and farther away from me, it was infuriating, if Oil Jar and Fatty were here, who would dare bully me like this?

My foot slipped and I fell, my heart ached badly. This is a highland area with thin air, and it's underground too. After walking for a day, I don't know how much physical strength I've consumed. Now that I've finally fallen, I'm quite relieved.

Lying on the ground panting, a green light suddenly rose in the darkness, and a pair of black boots stopped in front of me. I looked up weakly and said: "You damn well get out of here, what are you coming back for? Don't let me catch you, or I won't forgive you." If it were before, I would have endured humiliation and tried to curry favor first, but after being with Fatso for a long time, his straightforwardness had rubbed off on me, and before I knew it, the words in my heart had slipped out.

Passerby A looked at me for a while, then directly kicked my shoulder with his foot and said: "Get up quickly, our light source is limited, we must find a way out quickly." I stared at him, damn it, do you think I don't know? But now I have to get up too. Supporting myself with my arms, both of them were shaking violently. Passerby A couldn't bear to look at me anymore, grabbed my collar and pulled me up from the ground, making a "tsk" sound, saying: "You're really a burden, hurry up and follow."

I could only stumble along behind him, this time he was kind enough not to run too fast, after a while, two forks appeared in front of us again, passerby A stopped, I took the opportunity to catch my breath, seeing that he didn't react for a long time, so I asked: "Hey, which way?"

He didn't answer me, but instead held up the cold fire and examined the wall of the cave, as if looking for something. I followed him over and found that there was nothing special about the wall of the cave, just naturally formed rocks with a pockmarked surface. The man glanced at me and said, "Looking for words."

I was taken aback, what did you say?

After a while, I asked: "Isn't that the evil word?" Passerby A didn't refute me, which is equivalent to admitting it. My head suddenly exploded and I said: "Damn it, isn't that the word you left for me?"

The pedestrian had his hands tucked into his sleeves, facing me with an expression that was unclear, but a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth. He said, "I don't have the leisure to leave you a note, I'm also following that word, however... it's not here now." Suddenly, my scalp felt numb, what on earth is going on? Could it be that there are more people in this place besides me and the pedestrian?

I remembered what passerby A said to me earlier, he said that it was the sound I made that attracted him over. However, at that time, I was so scared by myself that I didn't even dare to breathe loudly, so what was the sound that attracted passerby A?

Just then, the sound came again from the front, the sound of a mobile phone.

  Drip! Drip! Drip!

I swallowed hard and said, "Just now, wasn't that sound made by you?"

Passerby A's face changed, his mouth twitched slightly, and he said in a low voice: "I thought it was you who did it." As we spoke to this point, we couldn't help but exchange a glance. Of course, I could only see the luxurious glasses that half-covered his face.

The sound is still echoing, drip! Drip! Drip! Neither of us dares to breathe out, I quickly tilt my ear to listen, and the sound seems to be coming from the hole on the right. Could it be that person who left a message?

And he left nothing else behind, but just happened to leave a word "evil", is it a coincidence?

Suddenly, the voice was interrupted again. I pointed to the hole on my right side, and passerby A nodded slightly, finally having some tacit understanding. He took the lead and walked into the hole with his hands hanging down.

I found that his hand, although naturally hanging down, was obviously tense with muscles, with ten fingers slightly curved to form an eagle's claw shape. The black gold glove under the bright green cold light reflected a strange glow, and the bloodstains on it seemed not to have dried yet. There was a faint smell of gore in the air.

I followed behind him, with the dagger held at my waist, listening to the surroundings while keeping an eye on the situation of this person, whom I didn't trust. Firstly, his background was unclear, and he seemed only familiar with Xiaohua, but not very familiar either.

Secondly, he just threw me down very quickly, from which it can be seen that he is not a fat man or a stupid person. A stupid person and a fat man would fight to the death to save me, but this person, as soon as there is danger, will absolutely abandon me.

Third, he has the ability, and it's a very strange ability. His hands are similar to those of a high-level equipment-wielding monk, which means that one second he can pierce through the heart of the Mao Ball brothers, and the next second, he can easily kill me.

This tunnel is still very long, after walking for a few minutes, the sound suddenly came back again, this time it was even clearer. Obviously, we were close to it. The sound only lasted for less than half a minute before stopping. At this moment, the pedestrian in front of us suddenly stopped and lowered his cigarette slightly. I followed him and looked over, my eyes fixed on something. On the ground, there was a belt.

To be exact, it was a belt connected to the pants, the pant legs were gone, and on the belt hung a piece of cloth with dark red blood seeping through.

  Someone is hurt!

Passerby A glanced at the belt and suddenly turned his head to look at me, saying in a low voice: "Drag oil bottle, you go first." I was so angry that I wanted to stab him with a knife, actually letting me test the waters, really sinister.

I glared at him, snatched the cigarette from his hand and sneered: "Stand behind me properly, don't get your head knocked by the devils." The phrase 'ghosts knocking heads' is a local slang in Changsha, originating from the anti-Japanese war period when the little ghosts (Japanese soldiers) would sneak up and hit people's heads with their rifle butts, one strike and you're dead. Later it became a sarcastic expression.

The pedestrian remained still, nodding his chin to signal me to move forward. I didn't even have a gun, and couldn't resist, so I could only hold the cold cigarette butt and proceed cautiously. After taking just a few steps, a shrill scream suddenly echoed from behind, the sound piercing my eardrums like torn fabric. I was startled and immediately turned around, only to see that four or five furry balls had appeared at the top of the cave, blocking our entire retreat route. The pedestrian's two hands moved swiftly, constantly fending off the approaching monsters. Seeing me frozen in place, he panted and shouted: "Aren't you going to hurry up?"

I suddenly realized, it turned out that this kid had discovered something on the top of the cave a long time ago. He let me go first, wanting me to run ahead. I instantly felt my face burning with anger, just as I was about to run, passerby A suddenly grunted and I saw a ball of fur biting his back, its big mouth made my skin crawl.

I immediately raised the dagger in my hand and rushed up, stabbing fiercely at Mao Ball's body, but unexpectedly slipped away. What's going on? Why is this guy like soap? This knife didn't stab Mao Ball, but instead cut passerby A, I only heard him grunt, and then kicked me flying with one foot, apparently this kid misunderstood, thinking I was going to harm him.

I also know I've done something stupid, this furry ball doesn't seem to have any abilities, and the two stabs I made so far both slipped away coincidentally. If I stab again and miss, I'm afraid passerby A will be stabbed to death by me. At that moment, I couldn't care less about explaining, I quickly got up from the ground, my abdomen was kicked by passerby A with a dull pain, but this wasn't the time to worry about that. I pounced over and directly used both hands to feel around and pry open the furry ball brother's upper and lower jaws, pulling them outward with all my might.

This thing has teeth growing densely, tightly embedded in the flesh of passerby A. The extra tentacles are still trying to tie passerby A up, and at this time, there are three more furballs attacking from the front, making it impossible for him to deal with the one biting his back.

My hand instinctively loosened, and that row of dense teeth sank into the flesh of my fingers. The ten fingers were connected to the heart, and suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my arm, but seeing the bloodstain on the back of passerby A, I couldn't let go of my hand. People have an instinct to avoid harm, when you know it will hurt, but still can't help but move forward, that's the most painful.

The monster's bite force was enormous, and I could only loosen it a little bit with both hands, and the blood flowed in a mess, and it was unclear whether it was mine or passerby A's. At the same time, several tentacles of the thing gave up binding passerby A and wrapped around my legs, trying to knock me down. I struggled while moving my legs, at this moment, my lower jaw touched the back of the furball, a fishy smell came, I was stunned, looking at passerby A who had already shown signs of fatigue, if we continued like this, both of us would die.

I gritted my teeth and bit down, using more force than when chewing beef. A ball of fur was stuck in my throat, and the stench flowed straight into my stomach. I had no time to think about whether it was disgusting or not, and I just kept biting with all my might. My two hands were still trying to pry open its mouth. The furry ball seemed to be in pain from my bite, let out a mournful cry, and loosened its grip on the back of passerby A. To my surprise, it suddenly turned around and bit towards my head. I was too close to dodge, and all I could see was that scarlet big mouth. Just as it was about to bite me, the thing suddenly went limp. Passerby A's large hand had grabbed its back, with all five fingers digging deep into its fur, and a lump of blood was squeezed out.
