Chapter 26: Only I Can

When Cynthia walked quickly past her own wall, there were already many people surrounding the corpse on the ground, pointing and discussing.

"Isn't this Betty? What is she doing going out at night?" someone whispered.

"It was as if I had been dragged out of her house by a vampire, and I had just come out from near her house, with blood still on the window glass."

Cynthia's ears quickened their pace upon receiving the message, was Curtis bringing a corpse to intimidate her?

Did he know there was a Kael in her residence? Or did he even know who Kael was?

  I don't know about it.

Otherwise, I wouldn't dare be so arrogant.

Cynthia's eyes were cold and her emotions were bad. The woman looked young during the day, but the hole in her neck had stopped bleeding.

It's all because of her that I lost a life in vain, and this sense of guilt imposed on me is unbearable.

  Damn it, Curtis!

Cynthia gritted her teeth as she thought, wearing a cloak and about to head towards the restaurant across from where Don and the others worked, that booming new store, was coincidentally spotted by sharp-eyed Todd and intercepted.

Their business warmed up a bit today and some people even came here for breakfast.

"Cynthia, are you coming to buy breakfast?"

"I'm going over there..." Cynthia said in a low voice.

"Why?" Duode rushed out, first looking strange, then pleading, "You spent a gold coin here yesterday, at least finish it before leaving."

He was about to turn around and call Dawn, but was stopped by Cynthia, "Not today, Mr. Kayus is at my house, he tasted your food yesterday, I don't dare serve it to him again today."

Todd jumped in surprise, "Is it Lord Kayus?"

Cynthia nodded and took a look at the situation in their store, thought for a moment and followed Dod to sit down in their store, passing gold coins into his hand.

"Would you mind helping me buy some from across the street? I'll just put on a raincoat and go. In a few days, your business will probably be gone again."

Everyone likes to eat at the restaurant of Mr. Kai, which will undoubtedly bring a celebrity effect. Look at how well their restaurant business is doing, thanks to Cynthia's cloak.

Todd's expression on his face switched to surprise, he took the money and said: "I'm also afraid that we will lose our jobs, you wait here, I'll go call someone to buy it, very soon!"

When Cynthia returned home with her basket again, the corpse under the window had been taken away, and several women were squatting on the ground brushing away bloodstains.

They seem to be used to this kind of thing.

She had just walked into the house with a bamboo basket, and happened to bump into Kael who was about to come out from inside. Her toes almost stepped on his heel, and she grabbed the door frame to barely steady herself.

"Mr. Kayus." Cynthia hastily lifted her head, "Are you leaving now? Let's have breakfast first before going out."

She met that pair of cold, dead eyes without warning, and a suffocating feeling almost crawled up her neck.

But this uncomfortable sight began to warm up when it was transferred to Cynthia's bamboo basket.

"Kaius's tone was unclear, 'Have you gone out to buy breakfast?'"

"Yeah, you haven't eaten anything since last night, you must be starving." Cynthia said matter-of-factly, as she tentatively placed her hand on his chest and gently pushed him inside through the velvet coat, "Let's eat first."

Kairos took two steps back, actually wanting to say that he didn't need to eat this food, he didn't need to eat at all and couldn't feel hunger, but seeing Cynthia's busy appearance, he didn't say it out loud, instead changing it to a sarcastic sentence, "Aren't you good at washing clothes and cooking?"

Cynthia's fingers stiffened and drew back, she bit her lip and said somewhat awkwardly: "I think the meal I made is not as delicious as the one at the restaurant, yesterday you said that their food was so bad even mice wouldn't eat it..."

She lowered her head, her voice getting smaller and smaller, "How could you possibly like something I made?"

"You won't like it." Cynthia whispered again sadly.

Her expression looked too pitiful, and Kael gazed at her coldly, seemingly indifferent. However, he didn't continue to make things difficult for her, instead falling silent as he sat down at the table, looking at the breakfast spread out before him.

Wheat bread with jam, two cups of hot milk, and some roasted sausage and eggs.

These things look ordinary, but the cost of this breakfast is extremely expensive. One gold coin for a meal and half of it was spent, the rest were changed into silver coins and returned to her.

These words in Kayus' mouth, finally didn't have any vicious comments, don't know if he felt that his words were too heavy or the taste was truly sincere.

Cynthia sat beside him and took a bite of the bread with jam, immediately puckering up her eyes from the sourness.

She looked at Kairus who was mechanically eating without even a nod of reaction and silently put the possibility forward.

She now thinks it's probably better to do it herself, and will find an opportunity to secretly ask Duoen how to burn charcoal and control the fire.

After finishing breakfast, Kairos was going to take her to see his masterpiece.

Cynthia came out of the dressing room in a new dress, and Anthony had taken everything except for the nightgown to be beige, all the rest were black, this taste probably followed his master.

But the measurements she gave him and the clothes he brought back were identical, and she suspected that Anthony and those birds had made them.

She wore a skirt similar to a Roman skirt, with some folds on her chest, the fabric at her waist was very tight, and a black cord tie was tied on top, with a layer of hanging tassels down to her ankles.

The style almost merged her entire person into the darkness, that head of light golden curly hair became unexpectedly dazzling and striking, paired with this face of absolute beauty, it was an unspeakable mysterious beauty.

But Cynthia looked at her curly hair with a hint of entanglement, she didn't want to change this color, but had to do so.

Coming out of the bathroom and standing in front of Karius, she said softly: "Can you help me with something?"

Kairos's gaze turned back, his icy empty eyes showing a brief moment of stunned expression when he saw her.

This was the first time Cynthia saw this emotion on him, but she could only pretend not to see it, raising a perfectly designed arc of a smile, and continuing what she wanted to say.

"I want to change my hair color, it's too conspicuous, and following me is not safe."

Caius remained stationary, his gaze making a brief stop on her two snow-white arms exposed to the outside, then picked up the cloak on the coat rack and threw it over her face, coldly rejecting her request. "Keep your hair color."

Cynthia took down the veil from her face, somewhat indignantly saying: "It's too dangerous! No one here welcomes me! I'm an outcast, and if you're not around someday, I'll die!"
