Chapter 39: Duel on Long Street

The mercenaries in the Golden Ivory Tavern were spewing wine, baring their yellow teeth and recklessly mocking Tong Dun. In their eyes, he was just a lowly, pitiful creature.

No matter whether it was his status, equipment or strength, Tang Dun had no chance of turning the tables. Everyone could completely predict that soon this young man would be trampled on like a dead dog and brutally crushed.

Lady Grantham swept into the room like a general triumphant on the battlefield, her chin held high, looking down her nose at Lord Grantham and his toadies with equal disdain.

Danton gripped the axe handle of the torn dragon's tooth tightly, about to chop down the hunting dog on the dinner table. In order not to lose his job and to accumulate tuition fees for his sister Irene, he had endured for too long.

"Don't be impulsive!" The Minotaur pinned down Tang Don's wrist, shouting, "Think carefully, this one axe blow may change the course of your life!"

"Humph! Daring to chop me? Does he have the guts?" Little Ge Langtai pointed to the ground, "If you kneel down and kowtow, I can forgive your offense against me."

"Let me go!" Tang Dun's voice dropped, like a cold current wrapping around him.

"Calm down!" Barack felt Danton's muscles tense up, gathering force. He wasn't just talking big; if he hadn't been holding him back, he would have definitely knocked this bastard to the ground.

"What's going on? Are you performing an opera?" Melissa pushed through the crowd and came over, "Little Gelongtai, I didn't know you had such talent!"

Listening to the flattery of the beautiful woman, Xiao Ge Langtai became even more pleased, but also no longer got angry, instead making an effort to put on a gentlemanly demeanor, "As long as I'm willing, I can learn anything quickly."

The mercenaries' shouting died down, their eyes all fell on Melissa, greedy like a group of wild boars.

Melissa, wearing a low-cut dress, didn't mind those gazes at all, and she even casually flipped her slightly curly long hair, revealing her white, slender neck and straight posture, making her look like a white swan standing out from the crowd.

The dancers on the high platform were immediately outshone, and even though they wore revealing clothes, they couldn't draw back the mercenaries' line of sight.

Melissa was like a siren from the depths of hell, every move she made exuded an irresistible charm that made men want to pin her down.

"Tangdon, why haven't you come to the post office for a while? Afraid that Balmers' fool will take revenge on you?" Melissa laughed, "Don't worry, sis has got your back."

Downton furrowed his brow, not understanding Melissa's meaning.

"Hey, kneel down, didn't you hear?" Little Ge Langtai saw that Melissa was ignoring him and talking to Tang Dun, dissatisfied, and roared at him.

"Grant me one favor, and let him go?"

Melissa's eyes fluttered, and she gave Ge Langtai a flirtatious glance, instantly making him tremble, as if his whole body had been electrocuted, feeling his heart racing irregularly.

"Alright, I'll let you off this time, Downton, for Melissa's sake. But you can't use that nickname 'Western Fox' again, or next time I'll knock out your front teeth! " Little Ge Langtai turned to Melissa with a smile, bowed his head, and made an inviting gesture with his right hand on his chest, "May I invite you to dinner?"

There were many opportunities to get close to Tangdon, but there were few chances to flirt with Melissa. This woman seemed to have no self-respect and was like a *****, yet it had never been heard that any man had ever slept with her.

"If I conquer her, won't all the men in Morning Dew Town be envious of me?" Little Ge Langtai was having a beautiful dream, his mouth corners involuntarily curled up, fortunately he wasn't stupid enough to laugh out loud.

"Come on!" The Minotaur yanked at Tandon.

"What's it like to have a tray smashed in your face and soup splattered all over you? Is that refreshing?" Tong Dun stood up, his right hand swinging fiercely, "Let me go!"

Barack was about to persuade again, but looking at Downton's icy and disappointed gaze, with a disdainful tone echoing in his ears, his hand stiffened and subconsciously let go of Downton.

"Little Ge Langtai, aren't you trying to knock out my front teeth? Don't wait for next time, settle it here and now!"

Dangton didn't know why Melissa helped him, but that wasn't important. What was important was that if he left like this today, it would be a stain on his reputation for the rest of his life.

"Dundon, what's gotten into you?" Melissa was taken aback, then her voice turned stern, scolding him for being ungrateful.

It didn't come to blows, but the mercenaries were still grumbling when suddenly the situation took a dramatic turn.

"Is this guy crazy? A mere mortal dares to challenge a mage wearing a suit of demonic armor, it's a wonder he wasn't beaten to death!"

"Maybe they're into masochism, what's it to you?"

"Melissa, that kid isn't your boyfriend, what's it to you? Come and keep me company drinking instead, I'll make sure you're satisfied!"

The mercenaries were making a ruckus, betting on the private fight between Tang Don and Si Kong. Someone had already set up a gambling table and people started placing their bets. However, they didn't think Tang Don would win, so they were betting on how many seconds it would take for him to lose.

"Go, put down a hundred gold coins and bet that I can take him down in ten seconds!" Ge Langtai ordered his servant, looking at Melissa, "Wait for me for five minutes."

Melissa saw that Downton didn't even look at her, pulled out a battle axe from under the table, knowing that a private fight was unavoidable, hummed and turned to leave.

The mercenaries followed Danton and Little Gourlay out of the tavern, surrounded by the townspeople who had gathered to see the commotion.

In the blink of an eye, the long street was already packed to the point where water couldn't flow through.

For the first time in a duel, surrounded by so many people, Tong Dun couldn't help but feel a little nervous, his heart beating faster.

"Calm down as soon as possible and think of tactics!" Tong Dun took a deep breath, muttering to remind himself, while walking towards the horse post standing outside the tavern.

Kuro no's reins were tied up above because the one-handed sword and shield weren't heavy, so Tondton only brought in the Splitting Dragon Fang and backpack into the tavern.

"The war axe is too heavy, you need to change your weapon." The Minotaur could see that the Ripped Dragon Tooth was of better quality, but its weight was too great, making it unsuitable for swinging and putting him at a disadvantage.

"I know." Tandon didn't immediately activate his Giant's Power, a habit of overturning the bottom card, he wanted to see what his true strength was.

  "Can you hurry up?"

Although Xiao Ge Lang urged him on, he didn't feel rushed at all. Instead, he was savoring the thrill of being the center of attention, making him feel like a triumphant hero.

"Help me hold this, I was wrong just now, I shouldn't have mocked you!" Tandon put on his handcuffs and handed the battle axe to Balak, holding a shield in his left hand and gripping a single-handed sword tightly in his right hand, walking towards the center of the long street. "I understand your difficulties, since you don't dare to take action, then I'll help you get back the humiliation you suffered!"

The Minotaur, who was about to remind Tong Don to be careful, felt a pang in his heart and his eyes moistened. With Barak's fighting strength, even if a hundred small Glangtai came together, he could overturn them, but for the sake of the tribe, he could only endure.

Looking at Downton opposite him, Ge Langtai didn't take him seriously at all.

Suddenly, two semi-transparent white spheres the size of fists appeared and revolved around Xiaolong.

This guy is too trashy, the battle hasn't even started yet and he's already activated his shield.

"In ten seconds, I'll blow you up!" Little Ge Langtai held his long sword horizontally, pointing directly at Tang Dun, shouting loudly. He thought that his current appearance was definitely cool and comparable to a seven-colored giant dragon.

Dundon's response was simple, his right hand raised, and the brilliant Hercules launched a golden light spot that poured onto his head like flowing sand.

  Strength permeates throughout the body.

"Could it be that you're a Holy Knight?"

The whole scene was in an uproar, and I almost stared my eyes out. This twist was unexpected.

"No wonder you dared to challenge me, it turns out that you've become a magic user, but what's the use of that? I'm a second-tier soul at its peak, and I can take you down with one breath without even breaking a sweat."

Xiao Ge Lang Tai scorned and then pounced over.

Can't help but say, although Xiao Ge Langtai is a personal waste, after all, he is a magic user. This sudden charge was very fast, showing good explosive power. Under the strong self-confidence, the single-handed sword that slashed towards Tang Dun's neck was also extremely stable and ruthless.

Tang Dun's left hand slightly raised, blocking in front of him.

Clang, long sword and shield collided, issuing a piercing sound, followed closely by the second strike.

  "Hurricane Strike!"

With a loud crash, the long sword struck the shield with a fierce momentum, causing Tang Dong's arm to go numb.

"Too weak! Too weak! Too weak!"

Xiao Ge Lang roared, completely treating this private duel as his performance match. In his eyes, Tang Dun was just a small fry, so he didn't even consider the reasonable use of magic energy. What he needed was to go all out and blast him away in one breath.

Tang Dun held up his shield and retreated continuously under the swift strikes.

The whole field was filled with boos, and some mercenaries and civilians even raised their arms, clenched their fists, stuck out their thumbs, and then brutally swung them down.

  "Attack, attack, attack!"

Downton's response made onlookers feel uninterested, they needed a thrilling duel rather than an ugly defense.

The Minotaur began to regret not holding onto Downton earlier. The gap between the two was too great, and Downton didn't have a chance of winning from the start.

"You seem quite interested in that mailman?" Lord Lester said, walking up to Melissa in his elegant noble attire.

"Is the mayor's son also interested in this duel?" Melissa flattered the eighteen-year-old young man, whose old dad was the most powerful man in Morning Mist Town.

"They're just two mediocre fish in a sea of people. "Liszt sneered, "The postman is doomed to lose, with disparities in equipment, experience, and rank, he doesn't have a single advantage, this duel will become the darkest shadow of his life."

"Of course, they can't compare to you!" Melissa flattered the man beside her, but her gaze swept across Downton's left hand, where a ring sat on his index finger.

A ring of similar style, Melissa had once seen on the finger of an unapproachable mysterious big shot, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered with Downton's life or death.

"It's also possible that I'm misremembering?" Melissa tried to recall, but several years ago, with her status, she couldn't get close to that big shot at all, only catching a glimpse from afar. As a woman who loved exquisite jewelry, she had some impression of it.
