Chapter 21: Birds Guns Change Cannons

Black clouds surged in the sky, without a single ray of light shining through, enveloping the entire underground city in a dark atmosphere.

Against the backdrop, the two green flames in the empty eye sockets of the Death Knight shone like stars.

"Run quickly, it's very dangerous!" Tong Dun sprinted several steps and climbed up onto the roof, lowering his body.

"It's all right, as long as he doesn't step on the threshold, it won't attack us." Seres sat at the edge of the house, looking at Danton with a pleading expression, "You won't purify him, will you?"

"The question is whether your brother wants to kill me?" Downton smiled wryly, unable to lie to such a simple girl.

"Isn't the Holy Knight amazing? I know Uncle Hilder, who leads a knight order that can even kill dragons!" Seresis looked up and down at Tondon, clearly disbelieving.

"This is just a little girl who has just left home and doesn't know the ways of the world!" Holma flew to Danton's face, displaying text on the title page.

"I've become a Holy Knight for less than a day." Tong Dun spoke the truth, taking out a goose feather pen and writing on the Magic Book, "What level of power does that Death Knight have?"

"At the very least, it's a war rank. I can cut down a hundred of your kind without even resting!" The magic detection didn't work and was interrupted by Holma, who worried about provoking the other side.

Tang Dun was speechless, without mentioning his strength, just the Death Knight's equipment was enough to dazzle his eyes.

A full-body armor with a blue glow, its slender figure is set off by the three-finger-wide knight sword, which remains sharp after thousands of years, and the slow-flowing golden light proves that it is at least a perfect-level weapon.

"This demonic attire is gorgeous to the extreme, no wonder it can slaughter dragons." Holma sighed, "When he was alive, he must have been the dream lover of countless young maidens."

"I believe you'll definitely become a great holy knight in the future!" Seresis gave Tongton a thumbs up, clenched her small fist and cheered him on.

"Does it still remember you?" Danton was more concerned about the danger the Death Knight posed to himself.

Seris shook her head, her two legs swaying gently, her face filled with sorrow.

"What a pitiful siblings!" Horma sighed, "She has been guarding her brother's side all along, this kind of heart, makes me unbearable to deal with her."

"What do you want to do?" Tong Dun was stunned.

"Have you forgotten that you still owe a debt of 1,500 souls? One Death Witch is worth at least 500 souls, they are high-grade offerings!" Holma was still very concerned about her new master and had secretly accumulated several souls in order to help him repay his debt.

"Never mind, I couldn't bring myself to do it." Tandon had never even considered killing Seres.

"So use the vengeful spirit's confession and turn her into a servant?" He Jing suggested, "It's safer this way, and I can also carry out the next step of the plan."

"Look at her innocent eyes, do you think I could bring myself to do it?" Downton asked, his heart was soft.

"Ah, Death Witch is a born magician, I was planning to teach her dark magic, fight for you, kill monsters and accumulate souls."

Even if the book is written with a plot, Holma's magical font style is still beautiful. "A dead female elf maid who also serves as a private magic consultant, how cool and dazzling it would be to take her out, even if you're a duke, you wouldn't get this treatment!"

"Will you be my guide?" The atmosphere was a bit dull, and Tong Dun forced himself to speak up, "I'll pay you a commission!"

"Really? I was worried you'd ignore me! Where do you want to go? I'm very familiar with this city, you know!"

Serena was eager to try, having been lonely for too long. That kind of loneliness felt like a venomous snake constantly gnawing at her soul, almost driving her mad.

Downton is the first human being that the girl meets, and even a few more words would make her feel fresh and happy.

"So that's how it is, you've fooled this stupid succubus so badly she's lost her underwear, what's the point of having a spirit confess now? Besides, that divine technique can still fail." Holma teased Tongtong.

"Am I so sinister?" Tang Dun's gloomy forehead was covered with black lines.

The food problem is temporarily solved, and the remaining task is to hunt down the ghouls with all one's might, collect souls. With Seres as a guide, Tongdon believes that he will be able to accomplish twice the results with half the effort.

"Let's go!" The Death Fairy happily led the way, eager to show off her skills and help her new friend.

"Wait, where's my No. 1?!" Tang Don returned to the bedroom and found his ghoul, which had been shot by Shadow Arrows into two segments, crawling aimlessly on the ground because it hadn't received any orders.

"Number one, I'm sorry!" Tang Dun's axe fell, chopping off its skull.

"While alive, they don't fear death and become meat shields; after dying, they even contribute their soul remnants. The Corpse Eater is indeed a model worker! Holma extracted the purple mist and felt an urge to write a poem for No. 1."

"I'll make it up to you!" Seres followed, looking quite embarrassed, and handed over the ghost honey. "Replenish your energy a bit, don't worry, you finish that, I have other food."

"It doesn't matter, if we die, we can just revive again. Besides, there are plenty of undead in the dungeon anyway!" Tang Dong didn't refuse this time, as going hungry would greatly reduce his combat strength. He wouldn't joke about his life, but he had already decided to make it up to Seris later.

One was a simple death fairy and the other was a kind young man, both having experiences that the other didn't know about, so they chatted happily.

"Are you a postman? You must have been to many places then?" Serese was full of curiosity about the outside world.

"Most of the western border has my footprints, later I'll take you to Giant Dragon Hills for hunting, where a kind of red fox lives, very beautiful, many people catch them as pets!"

The large store was filled with all sorts of full-body armor in different styles, like a row of soldiers waiting for inspection.

Tangdon followed the Death Witch into the weapon shop, and his eyes were dazzled by the choices. Although they had been left untouched for a long time and hadn't been maintained, they were already covered in rust spots due to oxidation. However, as long as he put them on, their defensive capabilities would still be stronger than being naked.

"Which one should I choose?" Tang Don wrote, asking the Magic Book.

"These armors are mostly of high quality, but the magic arrays attached to them have been damaged and cannot be activated." Holma projected text, "The third one on the left, that set of ancient Roman-style silver armor, was forged with a small amount of blue iron metal, its defensive power is relatively outstanding, and it's roughly your size."

"Wow, you can actually write?" Serese looked at the fiery red characters floating in the air with a curious expression.

"Writing is nothing, I know over 10,000 styles of script!" Homma tempted Seres. "I also know many magical spells, do you want to learn?"

"Is magic useful?" Seres reached out to touch the spellbook, but missed, and then stretched out her index finger, lightly poking it.

"Can help Prince slay dragon, defeat Demon King!"

Which maiden's pillow has never hidden a knight? Who hasn't dreamed of a prince standing under the balcony to woo her?

Watching Holma's story unfold, Serese nodded non-stop, her eyes shining with big stars.

"Hey, don't impart this kind of knowledge to a pure and innocent girl, okay?" Tang Dong rolled his eyes, took off the light armor, and put it on himself.

Clang, clang, iron boots trampled on the ground, emitting a dull sound.

Danton jumped a few times, already somewhat anticipating the feeling of his combat boots kicking the ghouls in the face, it was definitely going to be exhilarating.

The array of weapons on the rack was dazzling, and after Tang Don tried out a few to get a feel for them, he chose a two-handed sword that weighed about fifteen pounds; he still preferred this orthodox weapon.

"What a pity, the bowstring is broken, otherwise bringing a hunting crossbow would greatly increase the lethality!" Tang Dun picked up a dagger, pulled it out, confirmed its sharpness, and inserted it into his boot.

"Alright, let's go!" Tong Dun walked up to Seris and knocked on the magic book.

"Just one more chapter, just one!" The innocent young witch had completely fallen under Holma's spell and was begging Tonton piteously.

"What's a good story about Homer? I'll tell you one about Hamlet!"

Tangdon had read many classic masterpieces in his dreams, but he never dared to tell anyone else, fearing being sent to the stake. However, Seres was different - she was a death witch who didn't have the chance to spread the story anyway, and even if she did leak it out, no one would bother themselves with her, for who would believe an 'evil' witch?

A secret had been weighing on his heart for fifteen years, unable to be shared with others, was absolutely a kind of torture. After meeting Seres, Tong Dun finally found someone to confide in.

Hamlet is indeed a famous tragedy, and the story of the miserable prince has only been told for less than two-fifths, Serres has already cried to the point of being disheveled, and even Holma couldn't help but sigh and wrote two 14-line poems to express her emotions.

"Keep going!" Seeing Tangdon stop, Serese hurriedly urged him on, and Holma flew over to bump his head in disapproval.

"Shall we kill the Corpse Eater first? After I've finished paying my respects, I guarantee to tell you stories for a whole month!" Tang Don smiled wryly. If they delayed any further, he himself would become the sacrificial offering.

"For Prince Hamlet, kill, kill, kill!" Horma's shameless projected text urged Seris, "From now on, you'll learn magic so we can hunt down enough ghouls as soon as possible."

  Seris nodded hastily.

Dangton crouched on a rooftop, quietly observing the streets below.

A low-ranking ghoul was holding a wild dog-sized capybara and crouching on the ground, devouring it frantically. Several ordinary ghouls smelled the blood and approached, but were slapped away by it.

"Power is roughly around Soul Stage Three, can't be killed." Holma released a magic detection and timely fed back the intelligence, "Transfer, go find the next one."

"We need a safe and efficient tactic." Danton couldn't let time slip away like this.

Ghouls will not actively attack Seres, who is a Death Witch, but if she takes the initiative to attack them, they will follow their instincts and fiercely counterattack. Of course, since they have no intelligence, they won't help each other out.

Danton cleared out a horde of ghouls in the back yard of a general store, clearing a safe area, then had Seres attack them one by one and lure them back.

"Bring on a soul-level undead with real power!" Looking at the corpses of the undead scattered all over the ground, Tang Dong's appetite grew bigger, wanting to challenge himself.
