44 - High-Altitude Mayhem

The screams of the crowd didn't elicit a shred of sympathy from Jake; instead, they made the folks in the control room even more excited!

Mike and Ethan were doubled over with laughter.

Liam, seeing that Jake was hesitant to press the button, was jumping up and down in agitation. "Boss, hurry up!"

"If you're in such a rush, maybe you should press it," Jake suggested.

"Sure!" Liam snatched the controller from Jake, his eyes gleaming with manic glee.

"Let the world feel the pain!"

Then, Liam slammed the button for forced ejection!

The helicopter, thousands of feet in the air, received the signal and reacted instantly. The doors on either side of the cabin popped open automatically.

A violent blast of air filled the entire cabin, making it impossible to open your eyes.

"What's going on? Why did the doors open by themselves?" Kyle blurted out, bewildered.

Chad's face turned ashen. "Which son of a gun did this?" he yelled in terror.

Before they could react, the seats beneath them began to shake violently, inching towards the open doorways.

"Why is my chair moving?" Kyle strained, his face red as he desperately clawed at the walls of the cabin, trying to stop the chair from sliding.

But it was all in vain.

Chad was soon carried to the doorway as well.

He screwed up his courage and glanced down, instantly losing his nerve. His blood pressure spiked, and he nearly pissed his pants!

  "Bang!"

  A deafening noise.

The three of them, still strapped to their seats, were ejected from the helicopter and plummeted towards the ground!

  "Aaaaaah!"

Their screams echoed across the sky.

"I'm done playing!" Chad cried, his voice cracking. "I quit! You can have the job. Just let me go home!"

At that moment, Chad had transformed into a noble soul who viewed money as dirt, wanting only to live!

"This is the real extreme sport!" Kyle yelled.

His previous attempts at extreme sports didn’t amount to much!

On the other side, Cindy, like a kid with a new toy, was constantly adjusting her posture, sometimes stretching out, sometimes curling into a ball, dancing in the roaring wind.

She had resigned herself to her fate.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Since falling from this height meant certain death regardless of posture, she might as well make the best of it and savor this experience that 99% of people would never have.

Thinking this, Cindy's spirits gradually lifted.

Cindy closed her eyes slightly, listening to the howling wind and feeling the weightlessness of the endless fall.

The three of them quickly descended from thousands of feet to an altitude of approximately eighteen thousand feet.

This was the altitude where most clouds existed.

From there, they could see the rolling, uniquely shaped cloud formations.

Some of the cloud formations were bathed in sunlight, like glittering golden statues of Buddha.

Other cloud formations stretched for miles, like aircraft carriers traversing the sky.

Some cloud formations were small, but contained countless streaks of lightning, creating deafening sounds like ferocious beasts emerging from the ancient world.

Such magnificent scenery astonished the three in the air.

In this brief period of time, the emotional impact made them forget that they were thousands of feet in the air, forget their fear, and immerse themselves in a world they had never seen before.

  "It's so beautiful!"

Cindy’s eyes were wet, and she was beginning to feel like she had no regrets even if she died in that instant.

Sadly, such scenery was only fleeting, given their rapid descent.

The three of them were soon engulfed in a cumulonimbus cloud.

It felt like they were completely enveloped by the cloud, unable to see anything.

It was as if they were enveloped in fog, only dozens of times thicker than the winter mist.

Cumulonimbus clouds contained moisture gathered from all directions.

Within just a split second, the three were completely drenched, and every breath choked their nostrils due to the saturated air on the cusp of turning to water.

Kyle and Chad also snapped out of it, thrashing about and screaming in the darkness.

  "Kyle, where are you?"

  "I'm here!"

"Come over here, I'm a little scared!"

The duration of their entry and exit of the storm cloud happened in a blink of an eye.

After leaving the cumulonimbus cloud, they were quite close to the ground.

Squinting, they could barely make out tiny dark specks on the ground like ants. Those dark specs where moving were cars.

The freighters on the river and the high-speed train, as viewed from their perspective, looked like a world built from Lego blocks.

"I don't want to die, Kyle!" Chad continued to struggle.

Kyle looked at Chad and smiled. "Chad, let's meet again in our next lives. I definitely want to have a drink with you!"

"Is this it?" Cindy blinked softly, turning over to look at the blue sky, feeling infinite regret.

It wasn’t exactly for the world below her.

Rather, it was regret for never experiencing that kind of joy ever again; it was a kind of desire for such a exciting sport.

"Ding, the positioning and navigation system has been successfully activated!"

  "Locating now!"

  "Location confirmed!"

  "Initiating navigation!"

Just as they were about to crash, the positioning and navigation system inside their protective suits successfully booted up.

Fine pores on the suit started emitting jets of air, carrying them towards the safety net on the ground.

Kyle also noticed the safety net below and, as if he suddenly remembered something, yelled out excitedly as he pointed to the net.

"Chad, do you see the safety net?"

  "We're not going to die!"

Chad, seeing the net, hurriedly asked, "Are you sure we can live if we land there?"

Kyle nodded vigorously. "Yes! I suddenly remember there's an extreme sport where you jump from the sky without a parachute, but there are only a handful of people in the world who can do it!"

While speaking, they had already arrived directly above the safety net under the protection of the positioning and navigation devices.

One after the other, they fell into different locations on the safety net.

Nanowires that were no thicker than data cables instantly stretched to their limits under the force of three powerful impacts.

  "Hahaha, I survived!"

"Chad, we don't have to wait for our next lives to see each other!"

Chad and Kyle burst into tears!

Cindy also raised both fists, cheering in jubilation!

  She was going to live!

She would be able to experience even more fun and thrilling activities in the future!

But just as the three of them had been happy for less than half a second, they suddenly felt a tremendous force beneath them.

Those strands of the safety net that had been stretched to their limit began to contract after absorbing the impact force.

The oblivious trio, like angry birds, were instantly launched back into the sky!
