Chapter 40

Antikythera stood alongside everyone else as Albedo and Lord Ainz left for the treasury. He processed everything he realistically could about the situation and found no satisfactory answer where Nazarick wins and they find the culprits. In the short term, the best they could hope for was that no other attack would be as bad as the one they were experiencing now.

"I do believe that we will have an important addition to our ranks soon," Demiurge announced. The Archfiend spoke loud enough to break Antikythera out of his self-induced stupor. "Lord Ainz's very creation will soon join us, the trusted guardian of Nazarick's treasure himself—Pandora's Actor."

The decration was met with awe and cps. Antikythera, too, joined in by producing a cpping sound using his voice modutor. The Automaton's servos whirred. "I suppose we are about to have a valuable ally on our hands. It is about time the collector residing within the treasury comes out and reveals himself to us."

"What. Do. You. Think. He. Looks. Like?" Cocytus asked, the insectoid scratching his head with a rge cw. "And. Can. He. Turn. Into. The. Supreme. Ones?"

"I do believe so," Demiurge nodded. "Out of all the area guardians, he is one of the strongest—not just in his category, but also within Nazarick. He has, after all, Lord Touch Me as one of his forms."

Shivers of fear ran down everyone's spine as the name was mentioned. The Supreme Being whom even Lord Ainz could not defeat. He, just like Lord Ulbert, had enough power to rival even the World Items themselves. If Lord Touch Me were here, Antikythera was confident they wouldn't have any problems when it came to war.

"Uwaaa," Lupusregina Beta said in awe. "He's, like, really powerful, right?" The Lycan shook her head. "I never saw him, though... What does he look like?"

"No one in Nazarick has seen him, and for good reason. He was chosen to guard the vault of the Supreme Beings, after all—a task that is monumental to the tomb and rather important," Antikythera expined with a hint of jealousy. Although he had protected the tomb himself, it was another matter to be chosen to guard the treasures the likes of Lord Ainz saw value in.

"He has never gotten out of that vault, but I believe Lord Ainz will call for his creation’s aid at this point in time," Demiurge confirmed. He added a tiny piece of information that everyone in the room might find useful. "And Pandora's Actor is a doppelg?nger, which means he looks like Nabe's true form."

"I. See." Cocytus nodded. The words made sense to him. "Rather. Pin."

"No, not at all." Demiurge shook his head. "Although he looks like any other doppelg?nger in his true form, Lord Ainz has also provided him with a rather unique set of clothing. Lord Ulbert once spoke to me about it, calling it evil incarnate." Demiurge's smile turned grim and excited. "Lord Ainz, it seems, has given his creation the physical appearance that befits the guardian of the treasury."

"Hm, really?" Solution Epsilon joined the conversation, tilting her head. "What would 'pure evil' look like, I wonder?" The slime had a hungry look on her humanoid facial features as she spoke. "I cannot wait to see it~"

"Oh yes, speaking of seeing—Epsilon, weren't you and Sebas with Shalltear at the time of her being afflicted by mind control? Have you not seen it happen?" Demiurge, and the rest of the guardians, turned to the two.

Solution's beautiful face—no more than the mask the rest of her colleagues wore—constricted into one of pain, and she began to py with her blonde locks in discomfort. The maid fixed her dress. "I was instructed to py a spoiled noble brat."

"I have read your reports on the matter," Demiurge adjusted his gsses, "and I know you and Sebas are not guilty for doing as you were told after dropping Shalltear in the middle of the woods. My real question is whether or not you saw what happened."

Sebas Tian shook his head. "We did not."

"Is that so?" Demiurge sounded skeptical, but he nodded nevertheless. "I know Shalltear can go rather frenzied when she's hungry, but for her to ck so much self-control that she cripples herself? I never saw her to be that incompetent."

"Neither did I," Antikythera agreed. "But I suppose this lesson needed to be learned the hard way. Next time, I believe Shalltear shall have a companion travel with her—one with preferably enough firepower to rein her in and take control of the situation should the need call for it."

"I suppose so, yes." Demiurge nodded. "Shalltear does need special guidance to aid her performance. She can become quite careless when left to her own devices, especially when faced with a situation she knows she can best without issue."

"Is this because of Shalltear's carelessness, then?" Antikythera theorized. "I wouldn't put it past her to act arrogant towards things she considers as her prey."

"I do not know the truth, but I believe that my theory is at least close enough that we know what happened to her during this time." A scroll appeared in Demiurge's hand. "I do not know if humans here had anti-divination items or spells, but I am certain that whoever attacked Shalltear had been lucky."

"Or they escaped because they were wounded," Antikythera supplied. It made sense in his mind, because who wouldn't want to seize control of someone as powerful as Shalltear? Anyone in their right mind would have continued to take over the vampire’s mind until Shalltear followed their words as though they were w.

"It's possible," Demiurge nodded. "I dare say that it might even be pusible through sheer luck."

Lord Ainz soon came back to the throne room, and with him were several World Items being carried by Narberal Gamma, who followed after Albedo as they entered the throne room once more. Lord Ainz was silent throughout their walk. He sighed when he sat down.

"Everyone, I want you all to meet my creation—Pandora’s Actor."

The light of the throne room darkened, and spotlights appeared by the entrance. While Antikythera could not appreciate the intricacies of such an act, he knew that Pandora's Actor loved making an entrance, and though he added magic into the bit, Antikythera thought it fit.
