Chapter 13

"Oi, you lot!" Mumei gestured to the captured outws, "Are the police outside actual police or just some cospyers?"

'Just calm down. Breathe. In. Out. In. Out. They will get justice in due time. After all, traitors cannot be forgiven. For now, focus on getting out of here alive and cim the reward.' Ataraxia calmed herself with various methods she had learned as she focused on trying to reattach the chains restraining her murderous nature, link by link, back around her body.

"Hah, and why, pray tell, would we tell you?" One of the outws spat.

"Wanna be the witty one do you?" Mumei said with a cold smile, "Are you sure about that?"

"Is this your best attempt at trying to scare us huh? You think your hot shit huh?" The outw quipped.

"Ataraxia, I'll be taking this guy with me for a nice quiet chat." Mumei said with a smile.

#Sure.# Ataraxia replied as she watched Mumei walk away with the outw. Sending a cold gre at the remaining outws, she ran her hand down her rifle as she wrote #Don't move unless you want your arm blown off.#

'That guy's gonna be left on death's door.' Ataraxia thought, recognising the type of smile that Mumei had worn earlier.

"Come on men, it's just one mute girl, we can take her on!" An outw tried to rally those around her, only to be swiftly met with a blown off arm and a loud bang from Ataraxia's rifle, shocking the outws and captives.

  #I said, Don't move.#

Continuing to free the captives, Ataraxia ignored the screams of terror and pain along with the pleas for mercy coming from the direction that Mumei went.

  'Called it.'

Looking over, Ataraxia saw the man and Mumei coming back. The man, who had previously been in fine condition, came back with blood dripping from his head and frizzy hair. His fingers had all been bent in unnatural ways and jolts of electricity occasionally ran to the floor as he made contact with it.

'It's a wonder this guy's even alive right now. Even my family didn't go that far when they're angry.' Ataraxia thought before quickly dismissing the notion of her parents and siblings being more kind-hearted than her assistant, 'They probably only cared about their reputation, so they didn't go too far, only targeting the areas that could be covered by clothing.'

"We're back." Mumei said lightheartedly, "They're actual police, but they accept bribes from all criminals. This city's head of security is also in on it as well. Turns out this guy is a big shot in the Underworld and the leader of this lot. He also, surprisingly, doesn't like the police force, or the head of security in this city."

#Great. So we're gonna have to shoot through all of the police outside?#

  "Essentially yeah."

#Great.# Ataraxia wrote as she let out a sigh. #What did your little 'chat' consist of?#

"A little electrocution py with half a dozen spark plugs connected together, getting beaten and a few cuts with some gss from some shattered windows from the cars." Mumei recounted with excitement, as if waiting to be praised.

'What a sadistic puppy.' Ataraxia thought as she stroked her assistant's head.

After patting the puppy-like assistant on the head, Ataraxia handed her two more Ballista magazines before focusing on the captives again.

Cutting the st captive free, Ataraxia gathered the scattered weapons and started to unload the bullets.

'Ugh, my head.' Ataraxia winced in pain as she felt a headache coming from overusing her eye. 'What a pain.'

Continuing to unload the weapons, she headed over to her captured outws and searched them for any magazines.

'51 5.56x45mm rounds, 40 7.62x39mm rounds and 32 7.62x51mm rounds. So 1, nearly 2 M4A1 mags, 1 mag and a bit AK47 mags and 1 and a half Scar H mags.' Packing the rounds back in their magazines, Ataraxia loaded them into the collected rifles and handed the tan-coloured Scar H and its spare magazine to Mumei.

#Take it. There's about half a mag in the spare one.#

Pulling the sling of the Scar over her head, she let it fly semi-loose near her left hip before thanking her companion.

#You lot. You're meatshields until we sort this out. So be prepared to die.# Ataraxia showed the outws with a 'loving' smile. #Now move.#

Walking through the tunnel, the heavy smell of blood finally left their system as they pushed onwards. Along the way, many outws paid their respects to their fallen watchmen while Ataraxia occasionally stopped to pick up their magazines. Seeing the natural light creep in, Ataraxia directed the former captives to hide behind the cars.

#While they may not be bulletproof, they can at least hide you from sight.#

"Now move." Mumei sharply whispered to the outws, causing the top dog from earlier to shiver in fear.

"Now, now, let's move." The leader ushered as he recalled his short conversation with Mumei. Shaking with fear, the man ignored the dried blood on his head and body as he looked forward as if today was going to be his st. The man looked at his underlings with pity, directing most of it at the ones at the front of the disorderly group.

  *BANG BANG BANG BANG*

A hail of pistol fire came crashing down the tunnel as the first few outws made it around the bend of the tunnel.

  *CLICK*

A sea of clicks signified that most of the police had shot their whole clip at the tunnel, unable to see who had come around the bend clearly.

Seeing the opportunity, Ataraxia dashed to the front, positioning her M4A1 around the bend, and held down the trigger.

  *RATATATA*

  *ACK*

Orange light flickered in the tunnel as a storm of bullets peppered the officers' cars, penetrating the bodies of those less fortunate.

  *CLICK CLICK*

Clicks echoed off the walls of the tunnel as Ataraxia pulled the M4A1 back into her embrace to reload. Following this, a few outws jumped out into the open, rushing at the police with knives, not caring about their own safety.

  *BANG BANG*

"This is for John!" One screamed out before being peppered with bullets.

"Fucking idiots," Mumei muttered as she popped back around the bend to provide some covering fire, not realising it was already too te.

  *CLICK CLICK*

  *BANG BANG*

More pistol fire made its way into the tunnel as the officers fired, hoping to manage to hit Ataraxia when she decided to show herself.

  *RATATATA*

Stacked against the bend of the tunnel, Mumei fired her Scar H above Ataraxia.

"Fuck this shit. Hey, you, mute chick!" The leader spoke, garnering Ataraxia's attention. The man had a furious expression as he looked at the two. His eyes showed that he was furious, but was serious about helping out, Ataraxia figured he seemed earnest enough to hand a gun. "Give me and my men rifle and we'll help you fuck them up."

'Worst case scenario, I get killed and respawn before hunting this guy down.' Ataraxia thought as Mumei responded to the Leader's offer.

"Look, we don't have enough ammunition to supply you or your men with rifles. We barely have enough for ourselves. You lot wasted most of the ammo firing into thin air." Mumei said as she pulled back to reload her Scar. "At most we can spare one. But if any of you lot decide to backstab us, you'll be dead before you can realise it."

"Fine, just give me one." The leader spoke as he held his arm out, waiting for them to throw a rifle into his hands.

Not bothering to look his way, she reloaded and threw her M4A1 and 2 full magazines she looted from the watchmen in the general direction of the leader, hitting him in the face.

  *RATATATATA*

'That's not the sound pistols make.' Ataraxia thought.

"They have assault rifles?" The leader asked, as perplexed as the duo were.

Exposing a small amount of her body, she fired at the police, catching glimpses of numerous barrels facing towards the tunnel. While a few officers didn't have rifles, the majority did, forcing the rifles to cough up lead. Strangely, one officer didn't fire her pistol.

'A thought to contempte on ter.' Ataraxia thought.

  *RATATATATATATA*

  *CLICK CLICK*

  *CLACK CLACK POOF*

A series of smoke grenades were thrown in tandem towards the tunnel as the police abandoned the cover of their cars, opting for the obscurement from the smoke, rather than waiting behind what may as well have been a thin piece of paper.

"PUSH!" One of the officers, seemingly their leader with her loud, authoritative voice that seemed to demand obedience.

'Fuck.' Ataraxia thought as the mild headache she had earlier suddenly got worse. Her vision blurred as she hastily retreated to cover, narrowly avoiding the bullets making their way towards her.

  *RATATATA*

Feeling the need to alert her partner, she took some time to write down what she briefly saw before her vision went blurry. #They have assault rifles. And a lot more than just one. They're pushing under the cover of smoke grenades.#
